[00:00:00] This is the FCB Podcast Network. Just Listen to Yourself presents I'm Just Saying it with Kira Davis.
[00:00:14] Elon Musk has made the like feature on X, formerly Twitter, private. That means that while you can still see how many people are liking a post, you can no longer see the names of those people.
[00:00:26] I was confused at the move at first. I know Elon is deliberate about everything and this was a meaningful act, but I wasn't sure about the practicality of it.
[00:00:35] I like to see who likes my post because it helps me gauge who is sharing it, which influential accounts might be pushing it further.
[00:00:42] But that is just a preference of vanity. I was reminded that in reality, many people are being targeted by cancel culture simply for the offense of liking a social media post that may fall within the rails of offensiveness the left is so committed to guarding.
[00:00:59] The explosive Twitter files suggest that even the small act of liking a wrong thing post was enough to catch the eye of the federal government during the most heated days of COVID government abuse.
[00:01:12] The move to privatize likes is another way to protect free speech from the hysterics and social leeches who make it their mission to seek, kill and destroy anyone who does not toe the accepted political line.
[00:01:25] I wasn't sure how such a move would affect engagements, but shortly after the change, Musk announced a massive increase in likes by the tens of thousands nearly immediately. And naturally, progressive social media accounts were outraged, claiming this new policy would make it easier for white supremacists to...
[00:01:45] I don't... I don't know. Just do stuff. I couldn't focus on their stupid arguments long enough to make sense of it. They're just men.
[00:01:53] And frankly, that's enough to tell me this is a good idea. I'm getting nervous about how much we are all leaning on Elon Musk, one man, to preserve free speech on the Western Internet.
[00:02:04] We need more influential people to spread out the mission. But for now, I'm glad he's here. I'm Kira Davis and I'm just saying. And FCB podcasts dot com.
