I'm Just Sayin - Kristi Noem and Fickle Voterdom

[00:00:00] South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem must be on the shortlist for Vice President because she

[00:00:19] has been under a lot of media scrutiny after the release of her recent autobiography, in

[00:00:25] which she shared a story of having to put down an unruly ranch puppy that was causing

[00:00:29] havoc with livestock and she deemed untrainable. Outrage ensued at the idea of gnome as a puppy killer,

[00:00:37] conservatives and liberals alike immediately disqualified her from leadership as a result.

[00:00:42] As someone who grew up in rural farm country, I found her confession sad but not particularly

[00:00:47] alarming. Ranchers and farmers put down animals on a regular basis for far less. Farm life is

[00:00:53] different and I know there are a lot of people out there saying I would never but don't we

[00:00:58] know better than that by now? There are a lot of people living on the coasts who say that about

[00:01:03] the way those in flyover country live. I would never vote like that, I would never think like

[00:01:07] that, I would never act like that but those of us who know better understand it's easy to talk

[00:01:13] about how someone should live when you know nothing about the mechanics of their daily life.

[00:01:18] So while I understand the angry sentiment, I do believe there's at least an argument here for

[00:01:23] the act based on what the difference is between urban living and rural living. I'm not saying it's

[00:01:29] a winning argument, I'm just saying there is one. I point that out because I am particularly annoyed

[00:01:36] with conservatives who have decided this is enough to disqualify her from higher office.

[00:01:41] During COVID gnome was one of the governing heroes on the right. She made all the right

[00:01:47] decisions and was lauded for her fearless stance against an overreaching bed. She has been

[00:01:52] tapped as a speaker and consultant as a direct result of her governance. People were screaming for

[00:01:57] her to become a presidential candidate. One controversial, arguable story from her past

[00:02:03] comes out and suddenly everything she did as a leader is obsolete. We complain about the fickleness

[00:02:09] of voters throwing good candidates overboard because of political intrigue and salacious

[00:02:14] stories but we are those voters. We are the problem. Here we are ready to torpedo a great

[00:02:22] governor whom we were praising mere months ago as a fearless leader because of a single event

[00:02:27] years and years past. You may not appreciate her actions as a rancher and you may even feel

[00:02:33] that they sully her character but if we're going to win, we have to be able to elect candidates

[00:02:39] who have proven their leadership capabilities. Gnome has certainly done that and until five

[00:02:44] minutes ago most conservatives agreed. You may think the choices she made with her ranch

[00:02:49] dog was cruel but what do you think of the choices she made during one of the most oppressive times

[00:02:54] in recent memory? That's the question you should be asking when it comes to Governor

[00:02:59] Christie Gnome. I'm Kira Davis and I'm just saying this has been a presentation of the
