I'm Just Sayin - Horror Films Tell Us Truths
Now this is the FCB Podcast Network. Just listen to Yourself presents. I'm saying Davis. This week is the beginning of the annual tellur Ride Horror Show in Telluride, Colorado. Four days of independent and mainstream horror films in one of the most beautiful mountain towns in America. And I'll be there along with my whole family. My daughter and I in particular are huge horror fans and idea. A lot of my listeners find strange, how can you be a Christian and enjoy such things? My answer is always the same. Horror is the last place in entertainment that treats evil with unabashed repulsion. It is almost always a story of the battle between good and evil. Evil is not misunderstood. It's our own small human way of processing that truth. It's the last place God gets to be the good guy in entertainment, entertainment that is an explicitly labeled Christian entertainment. Horror is like any other genre. Some of it's trash, the same way I like comedy, but not romantic comedy. I like horror, but not torture porn. Like any other genre, it's important to be discerning. But horror, besides being endlessly creative in ways other genres cannot match, feels like it's the last place where the truth can be told. The truth that there are evil entities in this world and a spiritual realm that is vibrant and dangerous and has deep consequences here in the physical Believe it or not, this week, when I'm sitting in those theaters watching all those horror movies, I'll be thinking about Jesus, the ultimate protagonist and the one who promises to rescue us from the frights of evil and death. I'm Cura Davidson. I'm just saying. This has been a presentation of the FCB podcast Network, where Real Talk lives. Visit us online at Fcbpodcasts dot com.
