I'm Just Sayin - God With Us
Now this is the FCB podcast network. Just listen to yourself presents. I'm just saying with Davis, this is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about. His mother, Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph, her husband, was faithful to the law and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, Joseph's son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save people from their sins. All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet, the Virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means God with us. When Joseph woke up, he did with the angel of the Lord had commanded him, and took Mary home as his wife, but he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son, and he gave him the name Jesus. What is the significance of the Christmas season in the modern West. It has settled into a season of kindness, gifts, commercialism, and it has become a very secular holiday. We all know the cliche by now, Jesus is the reason for the season. But it's not just a cliche, it's the truth. The prominence Christmas has in our culture is no accident, even if we've lost a lot of the meaning over the years. What we experience in these days as the holidays are the faint echoes of the most significant event in human history, Emmanuel God with us. It is not just a beautiful sentiment. It is an absolute, universe shattering, reality bending and possible event that literally shifted the trajectory of the human race and our place in eternity. The fall of man in the Garden of Eden changed us at a cellular level. No longer was our DNA fit for eternity. It's not just that sin separated us from God, but our very biology made it impossible to be in His presence without disintegrating. It would be like putting an ice cube next to a roaring fire. Sin defeated our structure, But God, he has made a way to heal our broken genetic code. He did not wave a magic wand, but became one of us. The God of everything, the creator of all, gave up unfathomable power and omnipotence to walk beside us in the sewage and the chaos, and the full range of human experience. No other God, in any other faith has removed his cloak of holiness to be with his creation. God with us is more than a sentiment. It is revolutionary, and its significance cannot be understated. It is the greatest act of sacrifice in all of the universe. If Elon Musk or the King of England, had Christmas dinner on skid Row, the world would be buzzing with the news. Most people would celebrate it as an act of humility and kindness. These men are among the most powerful and wealthy in the world. They can dine in the finest establishments. There are certain activities and locations most of society considered below their station, and they're just men. We are talking about a powerful, perfect, holy God walking around skid row sitting in urine soaked rags, offering a way to eternal peace and glory to anyone who will accept the invitation, even if their hands are caked and mud and grief. Christmas is a time we collectively pause to consider the extraordinary act of a king who threw off his robes and stepped out of comfort to walk with us, to be with us, to be us. Many people in our society may have forgotten what the season really means, but they are celebrating this gift. Nonetheless, Your very presence on this earth, at this holiday, in this very year, in this very place, is because of one God in three parts, father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who is better than us and walks right next to us. Anyway, Merry Christmas, and thank God for Jesus. I'm Kira Davison. I'm just saying. This has been a presentation of the FCB podcast Network, where Real Talk Lives.
