Now this is the FCB podcast Network Just Listen to Yourself presents I'm Davis. New York is a rogue State. In twenty twenty two, a Brooklyn man named Dexter Taylor was arrested and charged for building his own firearms. SCB Network's Jeff Charles reported on the story for Red State. From his report, Taylor, a fifty two year old New York native and a software engineer, discovered the world of gunsmithing years ago. He decided to take it up as a hobby and possibly turn it into a business later. However, when a joint ATF NYPD task force discovered he was legally buying parts from various companies, they opened up an investigation that led to a SWAT raid and arrest. In one disturbing moment during the trial, Taylor's judge told the defense team they could not use the Second Amendment as a defense, saying, incredibly, do not bring the Second Amendment into this courtroom. It doesn't exist here, so you can't argue Second Amendment. This is New York. In a pre sentencing interview, Taylor's lawyer said they expected the judge to issue a heavy sentence in order to make an example of Taylor for anyone considering building their own firearms in the state of New York. Unfortunately, they were very prescient. This week, a Brooklyn jury sentenced him to ten years in prison. Like the prosecution of President Trump, this trial feels politically motivated, designed to sew discouragement and fear, rather than to uphold the law. The State of New York seems to have officially gone rogue from the Constitution. I'm not sure what can be done about that, but at the very least, it is up to those of us who can see what is happening to the rule of law there to speak up and stand up. While crime runs rampant in our streets and throngs of unvet migrants stream across our border illegally, it seems especially absurd that the State of New York would bring the weight of the law to bear on a law abiding citizen simply exercising his Second Amendment rights, harming no one, nor engaging in illegal activities that could lead to harming anyone. Right here on this show, we highlighted the shocking attack and robbery of model and reality show star Victoria Henley in New York City recently she is still awaiting a resolution from authorities yet, Dexter Taylor will now spend the next ten years of his life in prison for building a tool. Taylor's lawyers have vowed to fight this case in federal courts as they should. Meanwhile, Taylor's family have set up a crowdfund to assist with legal fees and family support. If you'd like to support the Taylor family, navigate to GiB send go and search Dexter Taylor. New York State was once the crown jewel of the American Republic. Now it is a den of thieves and beggars, and it is an affront to the American way. I'm Kira Davison. I'm just saying. This has been a presentation of the FCB podcast Network, where Real Talk lives.
