Ep. 29 - Two Truths at Once: Compassion and Accountability (Renee Good)

Alii is back with a new episode tackling the Renee Good incident and the balancing of two truths at once: compassion and accountability.
Now this is the FCB podcast Network. This is pillow Talk with Ellie Michelle podcast Network. Welcome back to another episode of pillow Talk with Alan Michelle. I am your host, Eli Michelle. I am getting ready for the day, and I wanted to talk about the ice incident that has been going completely viral on social media. I first want to state that this is not about celebrating anyone's death. It's not about cheering, and it's not about revenge. It's about truth, responsibility, and the hard reality of what happens when law and order collapses into chaos. A woman is dead. That alone should sober us. All our reports indicate that she was a mother of three, a human being, a life that mattered, and nothing I say today will change the fact or the grief her children will carry. Violence is never the goal, it's never something to cheer for, and it should never be used as entertainment, political currency, or a moral grand standing. But acknowledging tragedy does not require ignoring the facts. Two things can be true at the same time. A death can be tragic and the actions leading up to it can be reckless, unlawful, and preventable. So with that, we're going to roll right into it. What we know and we're sticking to the facts. According to publicly available reports, this incident occurred during a lawn an ice enforcement operation involving federal agents carrying out their lawful duties. During that operation, the woman allegedly attempted to use her vehicle in a way that endangered federal officers. May be clear, a vehicle is not a protest sign. It is not a chant, It is not protected speech. A vehicle, when used against people, is legally recognized as a deadly weapon. Law enforcement officers, local or federal, are trained that an oncoming vehicle constitutes a lethal threat. At that point, officers aren't debating politics, that not engaging in ideology. They are reacting to an immediate danger. That distinction matters. Choice still exists before tragedy. This woman reportedly traveled hundreds of miles away from her children to engage in protest activity. That is not an accusation. That is a decision, and adults, especially parents, make choices every day that weigh risks versus responsibilities. Protesting is a constitutional right. Obviously, interfering with law enforcement operations is not. Though y'aw for using force or threatening force is not This did not have to end this way, and that is the hardest That is the hardest truth to sit with. Why law enforcement cannot just quote walk away. There's a dangerous narrative circling circulating that law enforcement should simply disengage when forced when faced with resistance. But here's the reality. Ice agents do not pick and choose laws. They do not write policy, and they do not get to opt out because a crowd disagrees. Their job is to enforce the law as written, not as Twitter wishes it to be. If agents abandon law, or if agents abandon enforcement due to intimidation, the law, the rule of law collapse, collapses, and when the truth of law collapses, the vulnerable suffer first. Chaos replaces accountability. Violence increases, it does not decrease. No celebrate, no celebration, no gloating, no dancing on graves. And let me be very clear, we are not celebrating this woman's death. We are not mocking her, and we are not cheering. Contrasts that with moments we've seen in the past where online extremists openly joked about or called for harm toward public figures like Charlie Kirk That kind of rhetoric is vile no matter who is who it's aimed at. Condemning dangerous behavior is not the same as celebrating death. Calling out facts is not hatred. Account Ability is not cruelty. Compassion does not require dishonesty. We can mourn a life and still say running toward armed officers with a vehicle is dangerous. Escalation invites irreversible consequences. Children deserve parents who come home alive. Whether you're an ice agent or a protester, a law enforcement agent, a normal civilian, we should not be teaching. We should be teaching de escalation, not modern. Responsibility, not recklessness, reality, not fantasy activism the bigger picture. This tragedy didn't begin in that moment. It began with rhetoric that glorifies confrontation. Like many I see many influencers doing on social media trying to encourage this type of behavior, and even policymakers and congressmen and senators I see that all the time, activism that rewards escalation. Leaders who encourage resistance without explaining consequences shame on them. By the way, when. People are told law enforcement is illegitimate, evil, or optional, someone eventually believes rules no longer apply, and unfortunately and tragically, someone eventually dies. That's not justice, that's failure. So my final thoughts, a woman is dead, children lost their mother, law enforcement officers will carry this incident forever. No one won here, but pretending law enforcement is the villain every time, regardless of facts, only guarantees more tragedies like this one. Violence is not the answer. I'm gonna say that again. Violence is not the answer. Chaos is not compassion, and truth still matters even when it's uncomfortable. If we truly care about lives, we have to stop encouraging people to put themselves and others in lethal situations under the illusion that consequences won't come, because, let me be very clear, because they consequences always do. It's quite sad and I. My prayers go out to the family members of everybody involved. Those poor children. I think from reports I've been seeing, they don't even have a father anymore. He passed away, so they. Only had their mom. These kids were sitting in school as their mother was playing, you know, protesting mom of the Week. And I'm not trying to be insensitive, but that's the reality of it. You should have been home waiting for your kids to get off the school bus. You are a mother first, you are a protester second, and you know, my deepest condolences to her family and her loved ones, and my deepest condolences to the ICE agent that had to make that decision. Nobody decides one day, you know, no sane human will be like, I am actually going to shoot a protester today. That is my goal. That is my goal, one hundred percent. Nobody thinks like that. I know the I know the I know the big tech media wants to think or wants to convince everybody that that's what happens. But that's not true. People aren't out here thinking, oh, yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna that's my goal today. They're liars and influencers and commentators and lawmakers who are encouraging people to go do your f and dirty work. Shame on you, Shame the f on you. You aren't getting out there on the streets. You aren't the one standing there with the signs. You aren't the one taking your vehicle and telling these people. Get out there. Where are you? More, more more specifically, Harry, where are you? Because you are the most vocal about people getting out and making their voices heard. And then you turn around and spin it and say, oh, shame on Ice, No shame on you, Harry and others alike. Because it wasn't for year rhetoric, people wouldn't be out here thinking that there's gonna be some some some hero. There's a difference between standing on the street sign street sidewalk, the sidewalks, holding your signs, screaming your beliefs, and then there's a difference between using a weapon. Okay, a vehicle in that situation is technically a weapon, period. There's no getting around that. So shame on influencers and content creators who are who are encouraging this type of behavior when you aren't out there yourself. So I do hope that we find some sort of middle ground here and take accountability for our actions. I try to use my platform for good. I don't ever encourage violence. I hope that we find some sort of middle ground. And even when people say the facts but still have compassion, there's still somebody that's gonna be out there saying something wrong or you said it like this, but you know whatever, however people want to do it. The bottom line is we still have the right to use our voices, and I will always encourage you to use your voice in situations like this that matter. I will never tell you to get out on the street and use your body as some sort of. Target or some sort of shield. Your voice is your shield. You can't get you know, you can't ice agents can't shoot you for just using your voice. Now, if you've caused harm in any sort of way, they can use force. But our voices will matter no matter what. So I hope you all have a good day again. My condolences go out to all the people involved. I will see you guys on the next one.
